The African Bar Association (AfBA) has announced the passing of Dr. Emmanuel Obumneme Mark, a beloved member of the Association, who departed this life on Monday, 25th May 2026. The announcement was made by the AfBA Secretariat on behalf of the organisation’s leadership and membership.
Dr. Emmanuel Mark was the brother of AfBA President, High Chief Ibrahim Eddy Mark, making this loss a deeply personal one for the Association’s highest office. The Secretariat has expressed profound sorrow over his passing and extended its heartfelt condolences to the President and the entire Mark family during what it described as “a difficult time.”
In a message to its members, the Association prayed that Dr. Mark’s soul would rest peacefully, and called on God to grant the President, his family, and all loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear what it acknowledged as an irreplaceable loss.
The association joins the legal community across Africa in mourning the passing of Dr. Emmanuel Obumneme Mark, and stands in full solidarity with its President at this time of grief.
The AfBA Secretariat has invited members across the continent to send condolence messages for the President via the Association’s official social media platforms, noting that all messages received will be collated and forwarded to him directly.
