HerSafeNetwork has congratulated the African Bar Association (AfBA) on its attainment of Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), describing the recognition as a significant milestone for the African legal profession.
In a congratulatory message addressed to the President and members of the African Bar Association, the Director of HerSafeNetwork, Winnie To, extended the organisation’s warm felicitations to the Association on the recognition by the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
To said the conferment of the status affirmed the growing standing and responsibility of the African legal profession in shaping global conversations around justice, human rights and the rule of law.
According to her, the recognition should be viewed as more than an honour, but as an opportunity for the African Bar Association to contribute meaningfully to international policy deliberations.
“A seat at the ECOSOC table is not merely an honour. It is a platform,” she stated, expressing confidence that the Association would use the opportunity to bring African voices and priorities into global deliberations.
She further noted that the recognition demonstrated that the African legal profession had both the standing and responsibility to influence conversations on issues of global importance, particularly those relating to justice, human rights and the rule of law.
HerSafeNetwork, through the congratulatory message, wished the African Bar Association continued success as it assumes its new role within the UN ECOSOC framework and contributes to international discussions affecting Africa and the wider global community.
