The African Bar Association (AfBA) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two Ghanaian ministers and six others.
In a condolence message dated August 7, 2025, addressed to Ghana’s President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, AfBA described the incident as a monumental loss, not only to Ghana but to the entire African continent.
The crash claimed the lives of Honourable Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, Honourable Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister of Environment, and six other high-ranking officials including party leaders, military personnel, and the helicopter crew.
“This devastating incident is a monumental loss, not only to the Government and people of the Republic of Ghana but to the entire African Continent,” the statement read.
AfBA President, High Chief Ibrahim Eddy Mark, who signed the letter, described the victims as “distinguished patriots” who committed their lives to national service, peace, and regional stability.
The Association offered heartfelt condolences and prayed for strength for the bereaved families and the nation. “May the Almighty comfort the bereaved, grant strength to the nation of Ghana, and may the souls of the departed find heavenly rest in the bosom of the LORD,” the message concluded.
The crash has sent shockwaves across West Africa and beyond, with many international bodies expected to issue similar condolences in the days ahead.
