Session No. 20 of the African Bar Association (AfBA) Annual Conference in Ghana will focus on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation.” The discussion will center on data security, privacy, and the growing challenges of protecting sensitive information in a rapidly evolving digital world.
Speakers will examine how governments, organizations, and individuals generate vast amounts of data daily—ranging from routine records to highly sensitive national security information. The session will also explore issues of regulatory oversight, encryption standards, and inter-agency coordination, while addressing the increasing risks of cyberattacks and data breaches.
The session will be chaired by Chinelo Audrey Ofoegbunam with panellists, Solomon Vendaga Ater, Dr. Ugoji Eze, Antoinette Essilfie.
Chinelo Audrey Ofoegbunam

Chinelo Audrey Ofoegbunam is the principal partner at CIAO Legal. Her interests are in artificial Intelligence and data protection and environmental law. Audrey is a Young African Leadership Institute Fellow, a Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor, an ADR Neutral, Federal High Court-Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre, and an Author of the weekly Legal Tip Series.
Solomon Vendaga Ater

Solomon Vendaga Ater is an astute professional and award-winning writer with a focus on Technology Law, Taxation Law, Energy Law, and Public Policy. He has authored over 20 publications and presented papers at international conferences. Recognised among Africa’s Top 100 Future Leaders in 2024, his research spans environmental law, data privacy, AI governance, NFTs, and the metaverse. Ater advocates responsible use of 56 emerging technologies and integration of tech in legal practice. He volunteers with NGOs and works with Sabi Law Foundation as Research and Programs Associate, promoting legal awareness and social change through media and policy engagement.
Dr Ugoji Adanma Eze

Ugoji Adanma Eze, Esq., PhD , earned her law degree in London and is a barrister-at-law of the Honorable Society of Grays Inn, London. Barrister Eze is a skilled producer of events and programs at the United Nations Head Quarters in New York, who speaks on US National and Cybersecurity; Climate Change; Global Health; Water disasters; women in entrepreneurship and sustainable development. She has conceptualised moderated or hosted several high level programs, meetings and panel discussions at the United Nations. Her work has been recognised by the New York City Bar Association, and she has also received proclamations honoring her from the City Of Houston, Texas, and Albany, New York.
Antoinette Essilfie

Antoinette Essilfie is an international Corporate and Technology lawyer and data privacy expert. She is Lead Counsel at Meta Platforms Inc., where she balances innovation, Youth safety, and legal compliance for platforms like Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. A certified CIPP/US, CIPM, and Fellow of the 57 International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), she co founded Acway Consultancy LLC to train privacy and cybersecurity professionals and provides support to businesses. She is also an Advisory Board Member of the Women Leading Privacy Committee of the IAPP and the Executive Director for the African Privacy Lawyers Association. She is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Swiss School of Business and Management, researching the development of a minimalistic framework for Data Privacy compliance that can be leveraged by SMBs. Antoinette is licensed to practice in Ghana, New York and Washington, D.C.
This strategic and forward-looking session will provide participants with insights into global best practices for managing digital transformation and securing critical data infrastructure across Africa’s public and private sectors.
