The African Bar Association has announced that its 2026 Annual Conference will take place in Sal, Cape Verde, from September 20 to 24, 2026.
The conference, which will be hosted in collaboration with the Cape Verde Bar Association, is scheduled to hold at the Hilton Cabo Verde Sal Resort, located in Santa Maria on Sal Island.
According to the Association, the 2026 gathering will focus on the theme, “Resilient Africa’s Roadmap for Sustainable Development: Addressing and Strengthening Issues of Military, Security and Economic Stability.”
The organisers stated that the conference will bring together lawyers, judges, academics, policymakers, and other stakeholders from across Africa and beyond to deliberate on critical issues affecting the continent’s legal and governance landscape.
They noted that the annual event remains a premier platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and shaping the future of the legal profession in Africa.
The Association also confirmed that registration for the conference is now open, with phased pricing for participants.
Under the early bird registration window, which runs from March 10 to May 31, 2026, members will pay $600, while non-members will pay $750.
Regular registration, scheduled between June 1 and July 31, 2026, is set at $700 for members and $850 for non-members.
Late registration, from August 1 to September 10, 2026, will attract fees of $800 for members and $950 for non-members, while registration after September 10 is fixed at $1000.
Special categories include a flat fee of $600 for judges, magistrates, and academics.
Young lawyers with seven years post-enrolment and below will pay €346.17 for members and €432.72 for non-members, while non-lawyers are required to pay €432.72.
The Association advised that all payments should be made through its official online conference platform and encouraged early registration.
It also invited interested sponsors and participants to make enquiries through its official communication channels.
The Publicity Secretary of the Association, Precious Umoroye Abi, expressed optimism about the event and stated that the conference would provide a strategic opportunity to strengthen professional ties and advance legal development across the continent.
The African Bar Association added that the 2026 conference is expected to foster deeper collaboration among legal professionals while addressing pressing issues relating to security, governance, and economic stability in Africa.
