One of the most anticipated sessions at the African Bar Association (AfBA) Annual Conference in Ghana is Session No. 13, themed “Young Lawyers – Thriving as a Young Lawyer in a Globalised World.” The session, organized in partnership with the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA), will focus on empowering emerging legal professionals to navigate the complex and competitive global legal landscape.
The training aims to equip participants with practical strategies and professional tools to build successful and sustainable careers. It will highlight how young lawyers can identify meaningful opportunities, avoid unproductive pursuits, and position themselves for international relevance.
The session will be chaired by Owoicho Adejo-Ogiri, with insightful contributions from panellists Isaac Aburam Lartey and Naa Amorkor Amarteifio, who will share experiences and perspectives on professional growth, mentorship, and cross-border practice in today’s interconnected world.
Owoicho Adejo-Ogiri

Owoicho David Adejo-Ogiri is the Managing Partner of Crest Hill Law Office (CHLOF), a seasoned legal practitioner with over 24 years of legal practice with vast expertise in Construction & Real Estate , International Law and Diplomacy, Arbitration & ADR, Telecommunications law, Intellectual Property Law, Sports Law & Administration, Commercial, Regulatory & Compliance expert.
He holds an LLM from Aberdeen Business School in International Information Technology Law and also Robert Gordon University, Scotland, United Kingdom.
He is currently a Ph.D candidate at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria. He is a Judge of the Federation International de Automobile (FIA) Courts (International Tribunal & International Court of Appeal) 2024 – 2027 and a Member of the Election Appeals Committee of The Nigeria Sports Commission(NSC)
Naa Amorkor Amarteifio

Naa Amorkor has extensive experience in commercial litigation, international construction disputes, mediation and arbitration involving complex financial and construction issues. She also advises on complex property and family matters.
Amorkor is an alumnus of the Slaughter & May Explore programme and the Africa Arbitration Academy. She is also an alumnus of the prestigious International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) secondment programme, where she worked with Hogan Lovells International LLP in London. While there, she was involved in disputes in the finance sector, hospitality, and entertainment among other areas of law. Amorkor has been invited to speak at various Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) – focused events and recently moderated the Career Advancement Symposium at the 2024 Annual CIArb Conference in Nigeria.
Amorkor currently serves as a Co-Chair to the Executive Council of the Lagos Court of Arbitration Young Arbitrators Network (LCA-YAN). Amorkor also serves as the Secretary and a Steering Committee member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Ghana Chapter. She is also an African Representative of the London Court of International Arbitration Young International Arbitrators Group (LCIA-YIAG). Amorkor is a Delos Guide to Arbitration Places (GAP) reviewer for Ghana. She holds an LLM from Queen Mary University of London, UK, an LLB and a combined degree in Applied Chemistry & Environmental Science.
Isaac Aburam Lartey

Isaac Aburam Lartey specialises in civil litigation and arbitration, with a focus on the manufacturing, real estate, and construction sectors. Isaac has represented and advised a wide array of clients in complex disputes and transactions. He has acted in arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Rules and before the Ghana Arbitration Centre. He also advises on major infrastructure projects under FIDIC contracts.
Isaac worked with the International Arbitration and Construction & Engineering teams at Mayer Brown International LLP in London as part of the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) Flagship Secondment Programme. He is an Alumnus of the African Arbitration Academy. Isaac has also held leadership roles within the International Bar Association (IBA), having served as the Ghana National Representative and Africa Regional Forum Liaison Officer of the Young Lawyers’ Committee.
He holds an LLM in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London where he studied under the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. He is a Guest Lecturer at the University of Ghana School of Law, where he teaches International Commercial Arbitration and Investment Treaty Arbitration.
