The African Bar Association has confirmed that it will hold its 2026 Annual Conference in Sal, Cape Verde, from September 20 to 24, 2026.
The announcement followed a fact-finding visit by the Association’s leadership to assess the island’s readiness and facilities.
The President of the Association, Ibrahim Eddy Mark, led the delegation and the Executive Director, Rudolf Ezeani, accompanied him on the official visit. The delegation visited Sal from February 22 to 25, 2026.
On arrival, officials of the Cape Verdean Bar Association received the delegation. The President of the Cape Verdean Bar Association, Julio Caeser Martins, welcomed the team. The Vice President, Oliver Araujo, joined the reception.
Members of the Bar in Sal, including Manuel Pina and Vania Cuhna, also participated in the visit.
The host Bar officials conducted the delegation on an inspection tour of nominated hotels proposed for conference activities. The team assessed accommodation capacity, conference halls, and supporting facilities. The hosts later treated the delegation to a dinner in honour of the visit.
Speaking after the inspections, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and hospitality on the island. The team noted that Sal possesses the capacity to host a major continental legal gathering.
The delegation also highlighted the island’s serene environment and scenic coastline. They described the island’s beautiful beaches and welcoming atmosphere as added attractions for delegates.
The African Bar Association stated that its findings strongly support the choice of Cape Verde as host for the 2026 Annual Conference. The Association said it looks forward to welcoming members from across Africa and beyond to Sal in September 2026.
