UPDATE ON THE 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND MILITARY TRAINING WORKSHOP EARLIER SCHEDULED FOR 19TH-24TH JULY 2020 IN NIAMEY, REPUBLIC OF NIGER

The African Bar Association (AFBA) regrets to announce the rescheduling of the 2020 Annual Conference earlier billed to hold at the Mahatma Ghandi International Conference Center in Niamey, Republic of Niger from 19th -24th July to the February 28th - 5th of March 2021 at the same Venue.

This development is sequel to issues relating to the Corona Virus Pandemic currently ravaging the Globe and the attendant restrictions and other severe measures put in place by various Governments to tackle the disease and its spread.

Some of these measures which include lockdown of Cities, Businesses, National boarders and social distancing measures have led to prolonged stay at home, severe flight restrictions locally and internationally. The situation has also led to loss of businesses with the attendant financial and other logistical constraints.

This unavoidable decision which was made jointly by the AFBA Governing Council and the Niger Bar Association, was taken in the overall interest of the organizers and participants at the annual program. While regretting the attendant inconveniences that may arise from this decision, we urge everyone to continue to embrace all measures put in place to stop the spread of this deadly virus.

We look forward to an early solution to this global problem and return to normalcy to enable the conference activities take place as now rescheduled.

Dated in Lagos Nigeria this 13th day of May, 2020
